Family Weekend Day 3

Today they visited the church I've been attending while here.

We went out to lunch to Longhorn Steakhouse before saying goodbye. Fall break is in just 2 weeks! =D

Family Weekend Day 2

Shopping at the bookstore...looking tough...ish...

Showing everyone around campus. Me and Grandfather in front of the library =)

The "Dream Big" rocking chairs

I insulted Daniel, so he put frozen yogurt on my face.

So I scooted over and sat next to Elizabeth. We're adorable.

He finally apologized...borrowing balloons from the decor as a prop, lol! Oh...and his back is wet because I may have poured water down his shirt before he apologized...

Family Weekend Day 1

Dad, Mom, Elizabeth, Grandfather, and Daniel all drove down today to come see me at High Point!

A juggler/comedian...hilarious!

Showing them the arcade...Mom was here too, but of course she's always behind the camera. *sigh*

Mom and Elizabeth stayed in my dorm while Dad, Grandfather, and Daniel stayed at a hotel.

Debating

Hmm...another day I didn't take a picture. I guess I'm quite distracted for Family Weekend!

Today I spent maybe 2-3 hours discussing/arguing religion and morals with Jake (a guy I met at theater who wants to become a priest)...a beautiful day to sit next to Gandhi on the promenade and debate everything from homosexual marriage to the basics of salvation.

How to Talk on the Phone

Tonight I attended a training session for a potential job. I'd be working at the research survey center and would be making phone calls conducting surveys on people's opinions on a variety of different topics. Of course, the upcoming questions are all about politics.

Running

Today for the President's Seminar I was up in a balcony seat. =)

Furthest I've ever run! Now I'm ready for the 5k race this Saturday =D

Oh No!

I didn't take a picture of what I did today! Oh no! So how am I going to post a picture of what I did today without having one? Hmm...

Mission accomplished.

Not Quite a Day of Rest...

Another work call today, but it was at the Black Box theater building the set for the upcoming production, The Laramie Project. They had too many workers for such a small space and a large portion of the time several of us weren't doing anything at all...frustrating.

We had an hour and fifteen minutes for lunch break, so after I ate I found an empty hammock =D

...and I ran into a Brony who let me take his picture! xD

After break we actually had a job! Unloading a truck holding these very bulky and heavy wooden palette things. And I was still sore from Saturday's manual labor...

Lots of Pictures, Lots of Words...

Okay. So today requires a bit of explanation...probably a lot less than I am going to give, lol. Since I signed up for a theater participation course this semester, there are work calls that I *must* attend or potentially get booted out of the class. Unfortunately, the theater department here doesn't really do a lot for freshman, and gives very vague instructions that I'm sure are crystal clear to all the upperclassmen. So I knew that I was supposed to be at the "scene shop" at 9am this morning. I didn't know exactly where that was, but I figured it was in one of the rooms under the theater. I arrived at the theater just a couple minutes early and wandered around the basement for a while. I went upstairs and found a couple students. They sent me to the smaller theater across campus, known as "the black box." I wandered around the outside of the locked building for a few minutes and found another student. She told me that the scene shop is actually off campus...at the mall about 1.5 miles away. I went back to my dorm, grabbed my keys, found the address, and drove to the mall. I drove all around the mall looking but didn't see anything that could potentially be a scene shop, so I went inside.

The mall didn't open until 10, and it was about 9:30, so it was very empty (just a few senior citizens having some sort of meeting in the food court...). This mall seems to be dying, and half the stores were unoccupied. One of my friends said it would be the perfect location for a zombie apocalypse outbreak!

Mannequins are almost always creepy. Especially when the mall is empty...at least it was morning instead of night. So I wandered about the inside of the mall for some time and finally started heading back to the door I came in, just about ready to give up (at the time I didn't realize how critical it was to attend every work call). The security desk was open and right next to the exit, so I thought I'd ask him. He knew exactly what I was talking about and sent me to the old Circuit City building just across the parking lot. It was actually the correct location and I found the theater people! And Matthew, the guy in charge, excused me for being 45ish minutes late...what an exhausting way to start the day!

This building is/will be used to store and build scenery for HPU productions. Today we took large boards of plywood, laid them down as flooring, nailed them to the ground, and then painted over it with "slop paint," which is just a mixture of all the leftover colors. They said they'd never seen slop paint turn out pink before...I said it looked like girl camouflage!

Then they covered it with paper...I didn't quite get why, or even why they painted it, but I'm not in charge! xD

Back on campus! Today was open house day and the place was swarmed with parents and students taking tours. I guess when it's a big thing like this they actually make them walk! Who knew!

Haha, I love coming to the gym on weekend nights! Empty...

2 miles tonight! With my mind constantly wandering while running, it can be difficult to count 26 laps without losing track. In the past I've had Angel help me while she's on one of the elliptical machines, or I've even brought a highlighter and marked my hand. Tonight I tried something new...

Each lap I pass by this sign. There are 24 letters/symbols, and some nights I've tried to remember the lap I'm on by moving on to the next letter as I run around the track. I can still get distracted, so tonight I tried something different. As I got to each letter, I started thinking of things that started with that letter that I was thankful for and thanked God for them as I ran that lap. It varied from serious subjects to people I love to thanking Him for ostriches, air, and elastic! Best run ever! =)

Good Morning

We were woken up this morning by the VERY LOUD fire alarm. So, in answer to the question, "What would you grab if your house was on fire?" I think almost everyone from York hall would have to answer their cellphone and keys to get back into the building, haha.

Since I was up and didn't have classes, I thought I'd make eggs! I realized that I didn't have any salt or paper...extra butter helped! =D

It was a lot of fun! Next time I think I need to buy some bacon...

Ginormous

When Angel updated her iPhone, it freaked out on her, so she had me take her to AT&T today (in payment she bought me lunch =D). They said it wasn't something they could fix and sent us to the Apple store at the mall. The Greensboro mall is absolutely huge. We drove around the parking lot for 15+ minutes and ended up stopping and asking for directions to find the Apple store! As we drove around, I kept using and couldn't think of a more apt word than "ginormous" to describe the mall.

A.M.?!

This is the latest, or er, earliest, I've stayed up here!

Rain, Rain, Come and Play...

Oooo...scary.

I managed to avoid walking through the biggest downpours during the day.

Well, most of them at least. Once we finished at the gym it was pouring outside. We put our phones and iPods in one of the umbrella bags, carried our shoes and socks, and then I proceeded to run, skip, splash, twirl, and sing through the rain back to the dorm! Highlight of my day! =D

It Definitely Has Been a Monday...

*sigh* Feeling very homesick today...I miss you people.

Especially since today has been a more Monday-ish Monday than usual, I decided to do laundry, dishes, clean our bathroom, and take out the trash to get the worst of the week over with all in one day, haha. This extra long curly fry made my day a little bit better though, lol.

Why Does Time Pass So Quickly?

Saying goodbye to my baby =(

A couple days is much too short a time to be at home...I can't wait for HPU's family weekend!

A Lovely Saturday

Daniel and I volunteered to cook brunch for everyone. We made bacon, eggs, and berry pancakes...and it didn't even turn out that bad, haha!

Elizabeth made me homemade orange juice. She hadn't made it for years, and I love it!

After going to Sarah Halbrook's surprise birthday party we had a fire out back, complete with hot dogs and s'mores.

Heading Home

Not too horrible of a drive =)

We went out to dinner to Larosa's (my favorite pizza place) =D

Tonight I went to the first official meeting of the Student Government Association...it was interesting!

Late Night at the Library

Tonight I went to the fancy library and spread out all my books and notebooks for homework on a couch inside. I think I'm gonna spend a lot of time here...

This is a quiz from religion that I spent maybe 5 minutes studying for. Being raised in a Christian home, attending Sunday school, going to church camps, reading through Genesis a bunch of times (you know, in January, before the plan falls apart ;) ), going to the Creation Museum for countless visits, and especially our Wednesday night classes have given me immense advantages when studying the Pentateuch! I couldn't believe some of these questions--or that so many students got them wrong. I am truly blessed.

Never Forgotten

They had a memorial service today and part of the park was covered in these little flags.

Today I went up to the fancy library up on the third floor of the University Center. I sat out on the balcony and read for a few hours. =)
