The Great Day Bakery

The Great Day Bakery is one of the restaurants here on campus. They sell sandwiches, soups, and salads  and they also sell baked goods (someone compared it to a Panera). This mini raspberry cheesecake thingy was really good! =D

Angel and I have worked every night for a full week now!

Movie Night

Tonight we watched the first Sherlock Holmes movie, and we're planning on watching the second when/if the library finds the disk, lol.

Care Package!

Today I got my first care package from home ever! Candy, lotion, a devotional, pushpins for my bulletin board, scissors, and my Worldview Academy notebooks and notes that I requested (I'm going to need them for a class or two). Thanks Mom <3

Today I bought an app (iStudiez Pro) to help organize my classes and homework assignments. I had fun inputting all the information for my six courses! I think it's going to be a great tool for staying on top of things. 

Angel and I worked out tonight and on our way back to the dorm stopped at one of the few hammocks around campus. During the day they are usually occupied, so this was the first time in one for each of us.

Long Lines and Lucky Charms

I had a package! The line for the post office was ridiculously long today for some reason...

Amazon shipped me some of my textbooks. When I got back my email said that I have two more boxes waiting for me at the post office. I guess I'll go back again tomorrow!

Out for a late night library run with some friends while they returned some movies. This was on the door =D

The movie and tv show library here is awesome! As proved by having multiple complete series of Doctor Who up to season 6! 

Batman Socks = A Good Monday

To face my first Monday of classes at High Point, I decided to wear my new batman socks. =D

My roommate Angel gave then to me in partial payment for driving her to Michael's for her art supplies.

I love the international promenade! Bronze statues of important historical people, awesome quotes engraved on the walkways, international flags on the light posts (representing countries that students are from), and classical music playing all the time. I'll literally take the scenic route back to my dorm to walk down the promenade. =)

Firsts

Last night Daniel and I searched for Baptist churches around High Point University. This one was really close and the website seemed to check out...let's just say I'll try a different one next week, lol. 

Today was also our first laundry day!

Derby Day

Today was Derby Day! (snow cones, bouncy houses, music, water slide, funnel cakes...) =D This is actually a volleyball bouncy house!

Tonight we went to the store and then made a full dinner in our kitchen for the first time. Spaghetti! This is my roommate Sarah and her friend Abby. 

Angel and I ended the day at the gym...maybe I shouldn't have tried to start with the 100lb weight...

Friday!!!

HPU has a few of these kiosks around campus. They will give out bottled water and some sort of small snack to those who have early morning classes. I grabbed some water before my 8am history class. 

Hung out with a few friends at the arcade and The Point. 

Pool!

Tonight at the University Center we could make street signs for our dorms. They are actually metals signs and we could personalize them anyway we wanted! The most clever one we saw said "Marilyn Mon Rd" XD

Errands

Thursday is my slow day since I only have one class. But I still had a lot of stuff to do today, so I used this very professional looking portfolio to stay organized, haha. I only completed about half of my list, but I did meet with my academic adviser and we successfully rearranged a few of my classes so I could get into an honors course. =)

The Point

My roommate Angel and I went to one of HPU's restaurants tonight: The Point. 

Beneath The Point is the arcade and on that same floor the movie cinema. Tonight we watched the beginning of Avengers with some friends we met up with in line! =)

My First (Very Very) Full Day

Started out the day with the convocation ceremony. The main speaker was the University's president, Dr. Nido Quibein. He is an incredible man with an amazing story. Every freshman is required to take a course taught by him. I can't wait! 

Saying goodbye...this will be the first time in our lives when Elizabeth and I are separate from each other for more than one week. 

After kicking the families out, going to a huge icebreaker, attending an academic orientation, calling IT to fix my dorm's internet, and finish unpacking, we had to get dressed up again to go to the Honor Code Signing. Every freshman literally signs the code, which says we agree to abstain from cheating, collusion, and plagiarism, and then we get to keep the pen as a reminder. 

Another HPU tradition is for the freshman to walk along the pathway and put their hands in the fountain!

HPU, Here I Come!

So today we drove for about 7 hours to make it to my move-in time of 4:00pm.

After rearranging some furniture and a lot of organizing, my room is beginning to come together! =D

Lots of Stuff...

Yesterday mom moved all the stuff we have slowly been accumulating up from the basement. We took a picture of it this morning. Whoa...

Packing

Today Elizabeth and I went through all of our clothes to decide what I got to take to school this semester and what she would keep. We share a lot of our clothing and on breaks we plan on switching out some of our wardrobes. =)

The Beginning of the Goodbyes

My last Sunday in Emmanuel Baptist Church for a few months. I will miss my church family; I love you all!

Walker/Gammie Wedding

One of my best friends got married today! Hadley Walker married Daniel Gammie and I had the privilege of being a part of the wedding. The ceremony was beautiful and everything went of great!

Tonight my boyfriend Daniel and I had my amazing sister-in-law Sara take some pictures for us before we go to our separate colleges. We had so much fun!

The Beginning!

Ah! I can't believe I'm leaving in just 2 weeks! Mom wanted me to have a picture-a-day blog while I am away at college, so I figured I should post a few pictures while I was still at home to get used to the website and give some background. So my first picture is a collection of all the High Point University stuff I have collected over the months...included is a poster, magazines, pamphlets from my visit on campus, my scholarship information (including a box of Godiva chocolates XD), a Christmas present, and my honors program acceptance letter.
